itsdogfood.com

Image
itsdogfood.com is a new to market (you guessed it) dog food brand that produces British made, cold pressed and raw frozen dog food as well as jerky treats. Seeing a growing demand for better quality pet food, company founder Craig Wallace invested in the UK’s first cold pressed dog food plant. To keep prices competitive, he chose to cut out the middle man, selling direct to consumer through an online subscription model. Wallace approached us to bring his concept to life, creating a brand-new brand proposition for an educated customer. Cold pressed dog food is a more nutritious option than regular kibble as it’s not extruded, while raw food is considered for many to be a better option than manufactured protein-based wet food. For real meat jerky treats, the benefits go without saying. Company founder Craig Wallace said, “Robot Food identified that our competitors, based on quality of product, seem to over-justify their high price points by patronising and guilt-tripping dog owners ...

New A24 books are delving into Moonlight, Ex Machina and The Witch

Image
A24 has carved a niche as one of the most unusual production and distribution companies around the moment. Known as much for its offbeat movies as its peculiar selection of merchandise, it’s been welcomed as an antidote to the big Hollywood movie machine. Whether its a mid-90s fingerboard, the face of Hereditary’s Toni Colette printed on a badge, or a range of sold-out clothing, A24’s catalogue of film-inspired wares is helping to build the quirky persona that sets it apart . However, it also produces more insightful items, including a collection of zines guest edited by the directors of its productions and, as of today, a new series of books exploring A24 movie releases in greater detail. The books focus on three films from A24’s roster: Moonlight, Ex Machina and The Witch; each a challenging and visually captivating watch. All books will feature the full screenplays as well as a section called 24 Frames, a range of stills chosen by the directors for their significance. MOONLIGHT ...

Paul Trevor’s photo book captures life along 70s Brick Lane

Image
The latest area to be pulled out of Hoxton Mini Press’s time capsule is Brick Lane, a half-mile stretch of chaos in London’s East End. While Shoreditch has undergone rapid gentrification in recent years, Brick Lane and its surroundings are also no strangers to change. Over time, they’ve welcomed various cultures which have helped to shape their distinctive character, and been home to everything from distilleries to weavers’ factories as part of their evolution. Paul Trevor’s new photo book documents Brick Lane life, scanning his lens over the characters and routines that he used to encounter there several decades ago. Unlike his solo exhibition In Your Face , held at the Martin Parr Foundation last year, which, unsurprisingly zoned in on faces, his new book sees him take a step back and give a wider view of Brick Lane during the period. Once Upon a Time in Brick Lane captures the area while it was still recovering from wartime dereliction – though according to screenwriter Alan Gilb...

The identity of Leeds’ new district is inspired by the aesthetic of ancient Egypt

Image
At the heart of inner city Leeds sits a building whose roots stretch much further than its humble Yorkshire origins. A former flax mill, Temple Works is a classic example of the Egyptian Revival style of architecture popularised in the 19th Century, its façade based on the real-life temples of Edfu and Antaeopolis in Egypt. The long-abandoned, Grade I-listed building is the centrepiece of a regeneration project being led by developer CEG. The newly created district of Temple is set to be home to a host of offices, homes and leisure spaces. Local studio Thompson Brand Partners was chosen to create the visual identity for the district, which needed to show that it “knows where it comes from”, according to ECD Ian Thompson. The type-focused logo looks to reflect the façade of Temple Works, while ancient Egypt is also the inspiration for the colour palette, which includes yellow ochre and Egyptian blue. Meanwhile, a series of patterned and textured graphics draw on the aesthetic o...

31 Amazing Graphic Design Examples That Will Blow You Away

Image
Exposing yourself to examples of good graphic design is a healthy practice no matter who you are. Maybe you’re a student contemplating the next step in your journey. Or, you’re an award-winning graphic designer that’s staring at a blank computer screen, breaking out in a cold sweat. Whether you’re at the beginning of your career or enjoying the view from the pinnacle, sometimes we all need a boost of creative inspiration. Our favorite way to jump-start the imagination is twofold: to return to the fundamentals of design and observe how they’re put to use by the pros.    Exceptional graphic design blends the use of several elements to create a visually arresting piece. Graphic designers employ the use of colors, textures, lines, shapes, sizes, value, and space to create their work. Often, the end result elicits emotions or reactions in the viewer that serve to define a brand’s identity. Great design is a science and an art. It creates a visual representation of an ide...
