Relevant quote
Our creative starting point was inspired by the vibration of the first harmonic, a single entity oscillating between two different points at the same time. Alluding to ideas of harmonisation and collaboration, this shape became the basis for the construction of a bold new marque, both playful and authoritative with musicality at its core.

Opinion
The old logo was quite something, with a lot of wrong decisions in all the wrong places. The main graphic, if you were wondering, is a half copyright symbol inside a ribbon — a proper concept perhaps, but woefully executed. The new logo goes for the easy association of music waves to create a custom “MPA” that efficiently and engagingly says “music”. While the basis isn’t super original — reminiscent of Hearing Australia, for example — I like how the letters have been constructed and the texture they create. The logo animation (plus sound mnemonic) is annoyingly good. The accompanying wordmark in a nondescript sans-serif is fine in the logo but it comes across as overly dry in application. Speaking of applications, nothing too far-fetched with either the logo or an extended music wave graphic interacting with an Instagram gradient or photography. It’s all maybe a little too heavy on the waves, making it look like an audio recording app more than a representative organization but the flip side is that it looks energetic and youthful. Overall, not amazing, not bad and mostly appropriate.
