Making the rounds are images of corporate logos (grouped on the right) where their elements have been awkwardly separated to show "social distancing". Unfortunately none of them are that clever or as poignant as the unofficial Olympics logo graphic that did it first, since the rings icon is about people from five continents coming together not selling hamburgers, soda, or cars, making the notion of social distance actually relevant.

Practical Action rebrands to show “how small actions can change the big picture”

NB Studio has created a new identity for Practical Action, a UK development organisation. Practical Action was established in 1966 with the aim of creating appropriate technologies for developing regions of the world. It works primarily in Eastern and Southern Africa, South Asia and Latin America. It was founded by economist and philosopher Fritz Schumacher whose book, Small is Beautiful, champions the concept that small changes can empower people more than big ones. Practical Action’s aim is to provide sustainable technologies – systems that countries can accommodate with their existing resources – instead of providing large-scale aid that cannot be easily sustained. The legacy of Life magazine’s images celebrated in new show

When Life magazine was re-launched by magazine magnate Henry Luce in 1936, the idea was to put photojournalism at the forefront and publish only photography-led stories. Readers soon became accustomed to seeing images from around the world that gave them the kind of first-hand insight they’d never previously had. At one point it was selling 13.8 million copies a week, and in its lifetime the magazine commissioned more than 120,000 stories and 10 million photographs. Life was published up until 2000, and to celebrate the contributions the magazine made to documentary photography and photojournalism, Atlas Gallery in London is exhibiting a selection of some of the magazine’s most iconic and influential photographs.
