Asking for a Friend—The New Normal (Online)

Asking For A Friend is an initiative by Never Not Creative , Young Bloods Australia and Mentally-Healthy . It exists to make it easier for creatives to ask the unaskable. Wherever you are, tune in on the first Thursday of each month to get help, or just listen to the answers to your friends, colleagues and peers questions. The Asking For A Friend event in May will be run with guests, Jess Lilley , Creative Director of Leo Burnett and Aileen Alegado , Psychologist. This months theme is “The New Normal”. You can ask anonymous questions beforehand and watch last months event here . Cervical cancer is, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the fourth most frequent cancer found in women. Around the world, more than half a million new cases are reported each year, and in the UK, this translates to more than 3,000 cases annually. Almost all cervical cancer cases in the UK are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), a common viral infection passed between people through skin-to-skin contact. With proper screening to identify high-risk individuals and provide early treatment, this also means that 98.8%  cases are preventable. But for generations, the HPV screening process (also known as a cervical screening or smear test) has been mired in embarrassment, discomfort and taboo – to the point that in 2019, one in four women in the UK did not attend their cervical screening appointment. With these statistics in mind, the team at Bath-based design studio Matter has launched a set of new concept designs for at-home HPV testing, with the aim of taking the procedu

P&G Launches All-Paper Deodorant Packaging

Launching tomorrow, May 1, in 500 Walmart stores across the US, Procter & Gamble Beauty’s limited-edition all-paper tube for Secret and Old Spice deodorant displaces some plastic stick deodorant canisters, helping the company and brands reach their goal of, by 2030, using 100% recyclable or reusable packaging while cutting virgin petroleum-based plastic by 50%. With a suggested retail price of $9.99, the paper tube package contains invisible solid aluminum-free deodorant available in new scents made with essential oils: Secret Rose + Geranium and Old Spice Cedar & Salt. During development of this new package, P&G Beauty enlisted help from consumers. According to Freddy Bharucha, vice president of personal care for P&G Beauty, “We co-designed this package with consumers who are interested in cutting back on plastic waste. The majority of Gen Z consumers have high expectations for environmentally friendly products.” If this market test is successful, P&G Beauty say

Futr visual identity, from Lantern studio London-based studio Lantern has created the identity for AI company Futr. Futr provides AI-powered platforms so that organisations can communicate with people through messaging services like Whatsapp, Slack or Skype. It has taken on new relevance during the COVID-19 crisis as local authorities have used it to communicate with people. Its founder, Andy Wilkins says that it is a “revolution in how organisations communicate with their customers and employees.” The branding aims to give the company more of a “human face”, a trend in tech branding (most recently seen in this cryptocurrency identity). That’s evident in the icon, which is both an F and a human face that “could be winking at you”. The studio says it’s a “radical departure from the abstract shapes and chat bubbles that dominate the sector”. A colour palette of blue, green, yellow and pastel red has been chosen, and Telegraf has been used as the typeface. Messaging has a “short, pun
